Halloween Night 1999 is a Silent Hill/Resident Evil inspired game in the PS1 art style we made for Scream Jam October 2021!
Two best friends go trick or treating but one goes missing! You have to find him before its too late! Good old fashion tank controls (Didn't have enough time to figure out a newer control method too haha), locked camera angles, and a schlocky story to boot!
Created by two of us for this Scream Jam we also had assistance for music and voices! Girls voice by Oli Zhai and Music by Edmund Ng. Thank you both so much for the help!

I was thinking it might be good do do another follow up but jump a few years ahead and move onto PS2 era graphics! That would be a future project though.
And I hope this translated properly I do not speak Spanish sorry so I had to use Google Translate!
This game nails the retro feel, and the tank controls are spot on - perfect for a game like this. I didn't enjoy the chase scene at the end as much, as the character turns way too slowly and the camera is a bit too zoomed in, but I still managed to escape after a few tries.
Overall, a great time and impressive for a Jam game.
Thank you for the feedback :) Yeah I should of dialed back the chase scene down there xD The turn speed though was actually a glitch! It was around 4am when I submitted the build but when I had written it out from unreal there was a strange glitch where the rotation speed was double in all the parts of the game except that underground bit... I was too tired for a proper solution so just halved the rotation speed and called it a night haha xD

Scream Jam 2021 has been awesome, and games like this are a big part of it. I miss the magic of trick or treating as a kid and this helped recapture some of the magic and scares for me.
Yeah it's been a really awesome scream jam! There was one I played where it's just walking to a train station and texting on your phone and that was brilliance (it's one of the comments below) and another old fashion tank control horror but your chased by a tutu wearing monster and stuff like that is so much dam fun 😂
I'm from Australia though and our trick or treating involved lots of water bombs though and not so much candy 😂 (should of added some into the game...). Even the street at the start of my game is pretty much modlled on a street in a Sydney suburb 😂
I'm really glad this had a bit of a trip down memory lane though for you 😊
